Daunting Decor
Creep out your guests with scary party decor. For an adult party, the more frightening decorations the better! Go all out with fake spider webs, skeletons hanging or sitting around the room, graves, bats hung from the ceiling, fake rats or spiders, and ghosts floating around. Have the lights off or dim with the room lit by candles, lanterns, black lights, jack-o-lanterns, and glow in the dark decorations. Make your room extra creepy by using dry ice to create a fog in the room. For a kids party, you want to make sure the decorations are not too scary. Have big monster’s footprints leading to your front door. Lots of orange, black, and purple streamers and balloons. Have bats, spiders, ghosts, monsters, black cats, or skeleton with faces that are not frightening and more on the cute side. For either party, your basic color scheme should be black and orange.
Beware, Fun Lies Ahead
There is a variety of Halloween entertainment to choose from. To start, Halloween performers can be a big party hit. Add to the eerie mood by hiring a sword swallower, stilt walker, fire eater, magician, contortionist, or other circus entertainment. With the creepy decorations, they will be sure to spook your guests. Let your party goers interact by having a mind reader, impersonator, interactive performer, or murder mystery event. If your party has kids attending you may want to think about bringing a costumed character, face painter, or another form of children’s party entertainment to add to the fun. Don’t forget about music! Hire an event DJ
or use a creepy CD to play the best Halloween sounds and hits. Games are also a great way to keep guests entertained. Horror movie trivia, Halloween bingo, bobbing for apples, bat pinata, and the mummy wrap are just a few fun games you can play. Finally, a creative idea that party guests love is to have a photographer take pictures of the costumed guests as they come in the party. Use the pictures to make a slide-show on a DVD and send them to the guests with thank you notes for coming to the party.
Trick or Tons of Treats!
Get creative and creepy with your Halloween food and beverages. For main course foods, anything with pumpkins, like pumpkin bread, or orange, like steamed carrots, is a good touch. Serve dishes out of black cauldrons to add to your spooky theme. Another easy food idea is to serve jack-o-lantern pizzas by cutting pepperonis to make the face. The desserts for Halloween are even more endless. Anything shaped or that looks like a spider, black cat, pumpkin, monster, ghost, or other scary character is perfect. You can ice cupcakes with dark brown icing then have a tombstone cookie coming out of the top. A spider web design on pie or cheesecake and making pudding with gummy worms in it are both easy ideas. Witch hat cookies using Hershey kisses or chocolate dipped ice cream cones placed on top are delicious. Also, caramel apples and candy corn are Halloween dessert must haves. If this seems like a lot of cooking, make your party preparations easier by hiring a caterer to do your cooking and baking for you. Next, serve your drinks in clear or glass cups so you can see through them. Then put fake or candy spiders, worms, or other gross items in their drinks. Serve lime green punch or cocktails calling it Witches Brew or offer red punch or cocktails naming it Vampire’s Kiss. These can be served out of black cauldrons also. Another idea is to use carved out pumpkins as ice buckets serving orange soda or root beer out of them. Bartenders are a great way to ensure great mixed drinks and great service.
